The Deadly Pedestrian Accident

A young man died in Harlingen on Saturday, November 18, after he was hit by an SUV in the 1500 block of North Ed Carey Drive. Authorities responded to the crash at 4:23 a.m. 

On the scene, officers found a man lying in the roadway next to a white SUV. The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He has since been identified as a 22-year-old.

According to officers, the SUV was traveling north on Ed Carey Drive when it collided with the 22-year-old. The man was reportedly on the roadway at the time of the crash.

The driver of the SUV remained on the scene to render aid and cooperate with police. A bystander called authorities.

This incident remains under investigation by the Harlingen Highway Enforcement Unit.
